Welcome to 1st Frenchs Forest Scout Group. Scouting aims to provide a fun, safe, and inclusive community where youth develop physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills.
Sir Robert Baden-Powell started scouting in 1907 with 21 boys camping on Brown Sea Island – it now has over 26 million members worldwide.
1st Frenchs Forest Scout Group was first established in 1916 and the re-established in 1961 to provide scouting to the Forest area. Located next to Garigal National Park, we run a varied program designed to build self-respect, confidence, leadership and teamwork through fun and adventurous activities.
As part of Scouts Australia, one of the nation’s largest youth development organisations, we are an active group, with a Cub, a Scout and a Venturer Unit, our programs are designed to help young people grow through adventure, developing skills in leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and communication.
We provide a diverse range of activities, from traditional Scouting skills such as camping and bushcraft to more adventurous experiences like hiking, climbing, paddling, sailing and even flying. Our program also explores important contemporary topics including youth wellbeing, responsible risk-taking, community awareness, vocational skills and Indigenous perspectives.
The Scouts Australia Youth Program focuses on youth led activities where scouts have input on what they participate in, providing them with leadership opportunities as they organise and run the activities. Activities are based on the interests of the young people involved, with an emphasis on useful skills and service to others, helping them grow into responsible young people.
Scouts Australia is one of Australia's largest youth development organisations, with around 70,000 members aged 5 to 25.
As a member of the worldwide Scouting movement, Scouts Australia is part of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), connecting more than 40 million Scouts across 169 countries.
